TeleMessage enables the users to store and archive all of their communication channels –  SMS, MMS, App Messages and voice calls. When a TeleMessage user sends an SMS to one of his contacts who is not a registered user, TeleMessage will archive the SMS as an outgoing SMS.

But what happens when a message is sent to a registered user? Will the receiver of the message archive the same message as an incoming message? What happens when the message is sent to 10 registered users via broadcast or chat group? Will all of them archive the same message? By default all registered users recipients are archiving items as well thus they might be over populating the enterprise archive with multiple entries for each item.

Another implication with the default archive settings is that a message receiver or a voice call receiver might be archiving large-size messages attachments. It can take up expensive archive storage place and raise costs.

Solution:

TeleMessage enables the company admin to choose on the desired course of action on how to handle archived content duplications.

  1. Take No Chances Approach :  always archive all content thus allowing duplications.
  2. Archive Content Only Once : archive content only once with some known limitations.

Take No Chances Approach:

Each registered user will archive all incoming and outgoing content. Content sent to N registered recipients will be archive N+1 times. One on behalf of the sender and N on behalf of the recipients.

Archive Content Only Once:

To filter out archived content duplications,  TeleMessage will only archive content on behalf of the sender. A registered user who received a message will archive it only if the sender is not a registered user (for example , receiving an SMS  from a contact).

However , a registered user who received a message from another registered user will archive the message if any of the following cases is true:

  1. The sender’s archive settings are different than the recipients archive settings
  2. The sender is not managed by the a recipient’s manager
