TeleMessage was invited to participate in the International Conference on Healthcare Systems, Preparedness and Response to Emergencies and Disasters hosted by the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Home Front Command. Professionals from around the world were able to share the latest findings and developments concerning emergency preparedness, including new technologies in critical communications.

Soroka Medical Center, the largest hospital in southern Israel demonstrated TeleMessage’s Real-Time Emergency Management Notification System during the conference highlight, a drill simulating a chemical terror attack, and the response, management and treatment provided for the mock casualties was based on lessons learnt from large-scale MTE exercises and real-life events. During the drill, civilian first responders worked side by side with military search and rescue teams to evacuate causalities to a Level One trauma center for decontamination and definitive care.

Integrated with the hospital’s own IT applications and systems via TeleMessage’s APIs, the Real-Time Emergency Management Notification System automatically delivers messages to multiple communication devices, to get the word out to physicians, nurses, and other essential healthcare personnel as soon as any emergency arises. The system provides a centralized interface that instantly and simultaneously sends advisories to thousands of personnel anywhere, anytime, on any device. For example, the system will page hospital staff via voice call that there is an emergency, and that all personnel must report to their stations, followed by a text message. Doctors and nurses and hospital personnel can also respond to messages by stating how far they are away from the hospital, so that staff and resources can be allocated as quickly as possible. The system can also target specific groups of hospital personnel, depending on their position and when and where they are needed.

Knowing that emergencies can drastically impact our communities without warning, conference attendees are encouraged to addresses emergency preparedness challenges with the use of new technology and new approaches to strengthen and improve disaster preparedness.
