27 October, 2004 - TeleMessage, a leading developer of messaging solutions, announced that Bezeq, Israel's national telecommunications provider, has launched the TeleMessage SMS to Landline Solution for its fixed network in Israel, enabling subscribers to send and receive short text messages on their landline home and business phones. The TeleMessage platform enables fixed telephone subscribers to receive SMS messages on regular phones as calls, while the SMS is converted to Voice using text to speech technology.
The TeleMessage solution was deployed in combination with a leading SMSC platform which includes a PSTN interface, as well as Web and Email interfaces and an intelligent processing that supports SMS messaging within the fixed network and between fixed and mobile carriers.
The TeleMessage platform provides transcoding services that convert SMS text to email, fax, and voice (text to speech) formats, enabling subscribers to send messages to email users, fax terminals, and regular telephones.
The platform gives Bezeq an end-to-end SMS solution. Bezeq subscribers will be able to receive SMS messages converted to speech on any fixed phone, use SMS-capable phone terminals or use other advanced SMS functionality combined with e-mail or web access.
"The Voice-SMS service is a breakthrough in SMS delivery in Israel, it enables all the regular landline phone users to use SMS. This service is one of our B-Digital services, that will completely transform the use of home phones" said Yigaal Alfassi Head of Marketing.
"Mobile operators have enjoyed soaring volumes of SMS traffic. Now, fixed network operators can get a piece of the SMS market. The TeleMessage SMS to Landline Solution is designed to bring the success of SMS to the Landline market," said Guy Levit, CEO of TeleMessage. "We view Bezeq's deployment of our messaging solutions as an important example of the opportunities TeleMessage can offer to fixed and converged carriers to boost customer satisfaction and revenues."
In the second phase, Bezeq plans to offer additional TeleMessage solutions like SMS-to-Fax, SMS-to-Email, as well as Web-to-SMS functionality
