Messaging International, the AIM traded provider of innovative messaging services, launched new converged mobile/fixed and PC services at the 3GSM World Congress Barcelona, the world's premier mobile event, last week. The services provide a one-click access to an operator's network from a PC, and enable users to send pictures, music, videos and texts to mobile and suitably enabled fixed networks direct from their PC.
The Company has added a new multimedia message ('MMS') capability to its platform, which enables subscribers to send PC or Internet content (picture, music, video or text) to a mobile phone. Fully integrated in familiar PC programmes, the products include an MMS Composer and Player which allow the subscriber to add, convert and preview any PC content to mobile format.
In tandem with this, the Company has developed a Toolbar Plug-in designed as an add-on to the Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox web browsers. The Toolbar brings the telephone network one click away from users, enabling them to send an SMS or any PC or Internet picture, music or video as MMS to the mobile network with the ease of a PC keyboard and mouse.
Messaging International also has added Microsoft Outlook Express to its list of business enablers, which currently includes Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. Essentially, this opens up the consumer market by embedding the new MMS Composer and Player, within the programme, thereby enabling users to add pictures, music, video or text. It also allows a two-way mobile email.
Additionally, in line with the telephony networks migration towards IP, Messaging International's products can now work in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) enabled networks and incorporate presence preferences, allowing subscribers to choose on which device they want to receive messages.
Messaging International CEO Guy Levit commented: "We continuously look at ways to develop new products and fulfil market requirements so I am delighted to launch these new initiatives. Operators have already shown keen interest in the products, and feedback at the 3GSM Barcelona last week has been encouraging."
