Fido now offers TeleMessage Applications
Acton, February 2005 - For the third month in a row TeleMessage has launched its SMS to Landline application with another wireless operator. Fido launched the service named "Text to home phone", http://www.fido.ca/portal/en/domore/text_fido.shtml#home which enables Fido customers to send text messages from their Fido phone to any fixed line phone in Canada or the US.

Fido customers who love to text can now send a text message to a landline phone number anywhere in Canada or the United States. The text message is automatically converted into a voice message and sent to the recipient who can listen to it and even reply using their landline phone. When a Fido customer either does not want to or cannot talk, this option lets them discreetly send a message of up to 160 characters, regardless of whether their friend or family member has a wireless device.

"The first message is free", says Mark Carlin, Vice President of Business Development for TeleMessage. "After the first message the customer is charged $.25 CAD for each additional message in addition to his normal text message fee." After the customer sends the Text to home phone message he then receives an opt-in message asking him if he wants to send it in English or French so he replies with and "E" or an "F" to the message. He then receives a message thanking him for using the service and notifying him of the $.25 charge for future usage. Once the message is delivered he receives another message letting him know how and if the message was delivered. "It is an outstanding premium application which requires almost no customer education and provides excellent feedback to the customer. The premium application is fully hosted by TeleMessage requiring very little engineering resources from Fido."
